The Osipovichi Region is one of the most picturesque places of Belarus. The region is situated in the south-west part of the Mogilev oblast within the Central-Berezina plain. The territory of the region is predominantly flat with a slight rise in its western part. The forests make up 60% of the region’s territory, farmland - 29%, lakes and ponds – 2%, swamps -2%. Some 20 rivers flow through the region, including three major rivers – Berezina, Svisloch, Ptich.  Total length of the river network is 351km. There is a large water-storage (1307.7 hectares), a water power plant and the Svisloch fish farm on the Svisloch.

Belarus among top three at Junior Eurovision 2011

YEREVAN, 5 December (BelTA) – Lidia Zablontsaya of Belarus scored 99 points to make it into top three at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011, BelTA has learnt. Her composition Angels of the Good was praised by the European audience. Lidia was accompanied at the stage by young violinists Filipp Salata and Nastya Malevannaya. Belarus received 12 points from Russia, Moldova and Ukraine. Eight points were given by Armenia, Lithuania and Georgia. Lidia is 13 years old. She is an 8th-grade student at Mogilev School No 1. She also takes lessons in piano and vocal at the art studio Inspiration. She appeared on a big stage for the first time when she was only four. Then she won the regional contest Charming Kid. A band from Georgia (Candy Music) became the winners of the contest. Rachel Traets of the Netherlands (Teenager) was named second best.
